HALL, Madelyn Rose (nee Bromilow) - 1954-2010 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of an amazing woman. She passed away at the age of 55 at Timmins and District Hospital after a valiant fight with COPD and cancer. Madelyn always lived her life in the moment and fought her illness right until the very end. She stood by her late husband every step of the way and helped take care of him while he fought and lost his brave battle with cancer last may. She'll be fondly remembered as a woman who touched the lives of everyone she met, both as a supply teacher for several years and then as a child protection worker. She was very well respected and honest woman who was a true friend to many. She was the one people came to talk to when they needed complete honesty, even if they didn't like the answer. As a mother she taught me the value of honesty and integrity as well as following through on whatever I'd started, regardless of the challenges to be overcome. Madelyn is predeceased by her best friend and husband Douglas and by her father William Bromilow. She is survived by her daughter Angie Hall and fiancée Lee Snider, her mother Fern Bromilow, her sister Patricia Desanti (Luigi) and her brothers Mike (Lynn) and Bill (Paulette) Bromilow. Oct. 9, 1987 - Oct. 15, 2004

This memorial website was created in the memory of a wonderful son and grandson,
Andrew (Andy) Tessier.

Andy was the youngest son of Dale and June Tessier, and he has one older brother, James. His grandparents are Shannon and Claude Tessier, Arthur and Joyce Giguere, and one surviving great-grandfather, William Tessier.

Andy was born on October 9, 1987 in Timmins, Ontario, Canada. He was the cutest little guy I had ever seen. He was so tiny, but came out kicking and bucking like a little colt...extremely healthy, and raring to go. Even in his early years you could see he was going to be rough and tough and a real little go-getter.

He grew to be a unique individual, something that we don't see in today's teenagers. He was  a kind, polite, generous, lovable, workative, trustworthy, self-efficient kid that everybody seemed to like. Even the elderly liked Andy, because he respected them.

Andy attended St. Anne's Catholic school, Iroquois Fall High School, and Roland Michner High School  where he was very popular with the girls, and had many, many friends. While attending Catholic school Andy learned the most valuable lessons of all, and that was for the love of others. This was apparent when he raised a huge amount of money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and volunteered his time in various ways to raised money for the school. You knew his heart was in the right place because he never let anyone down, and he would go out of his way to help anyone, especially senior citizen. For many years he worked for an elderly woman who adored him no matter what he looked like.

Andy loved to shock his family and friends with his uniqueness.  You could always rely on Andy to have a different hair style than anyone else.  One day he would be sporting spikes and the next day he would have a mohawk, but they all seemed to suit him for some reason. I believe it was because he was so darn handsome with his dark completion, dark eyes, thin face, and beautiful smile.

Andy liked to give the appearance of a punker with his hairstyles and cloths he wore. Some of his friends and family will remember Andy sitting on the livingroom floor sewing and new pair of pants and shirt. But, no matter what he wore or how he looked he was very reliable, and a hard little worker.

Andy loved to try different types of sports and he earned certificates for achievements that we were all proud of in basketball, and bowling. He also enjoy hockey, dirt biking, cross-country skiing, and snow boarding, but his most favorite sport of all was snowmobiling.

Andy was also quite mechanically inclined, he loved working with his dad, and grandfathers on any type of machine that had a motor. He even rebuilt a golf cart and go cart that everyone determined was junk, but with persaverance he accomplished his mission and got it going.

Andy will definitely be missed by everyone who knew him. He brought joy to all who love him, and I'm glad that I had the privilege of knowing him for seventeen years.

ILEBRUN, Jean-Paul (Champ) - 1938- 2010 - The family announces with great sorrow his passing in the comfort of his home in Timmins on Monday, July 12, 2010 at the age of 71 years. Beloved husband of late Gloria Lebrun (née Cté) (2003). Loving father of Raymond Lauzon of Victoria, Guy Cté (Tina) of Timmins, Pat Lebrun (Jenny) of Timmins, Marc Lebrun of Hamilton. He is survived by his mother Dona Lebrun (née Beaulne) of Mayo, Québec and his siblings Claire of Timmins, Annette of Sudbury, Anita of Sudbury, Réjeanne of Timmins and Albert of Prince George, BC. Predeceased by his father Telesphore Lebrun, his sister Claudette and his brother Gerald. Jean-Paul was a former boxer and a boxing coach in Timmins for many years and he loved spending time at his cottage at Kenogamissi. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from the St-Dominique Church (Fr. Leo Rancourt officiating). Remembrance donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7- 9 p.m. on Friday at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, 150 Balsam St. S. Timmins, Ontario (705) 264-4444. "Justin was a loving and charismatic young man with a heart of gold who was always there for his family," an obituary posted by his family said. "He was a great guy who died a hero.

"He will be missed and never forgotten by all who knew and loved him. He will live in our hearts forever.

Meanwhile, Greater Sudbury Police officers were back at the scene the stabbing this weekend.

The Sudbury police search and rescue team, tactical team and the North Shore Search and Rescue were searching in and around the sand pit for clues to help them piece together what happened that Thursday morning.

The pit is where Dagenais was allegedly stabbed to death. The crime scene is located in a Vale-owned sand pit just off of Goodwill Drive in Garson.

Blake Lapierre, 18, faces one count of first-degree murder and aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon and assault with a weapon after a second man was injured in the incident.

The second victim was taken to Health Sciences North's Ramsey Lake Health Centre, where he was treated and released.

About a dozen members of the city police service - four or five detectives, several uniformed officers and forensics specialists - continue to investigate the stabbing.

JAMAIS NOUS NE T'OUBLIERONS Amélie Guertin September 30th, 1997 - October 29th, 2007 (Pine South Cemetery, Section T, Row 20) A Sonnet for Amélie A laugh that spreads cheer wherever you go, A smile to match, keeping grey skies at bay And with song and dance, you cast a glow, The girl with eyes that make you melt away. Just playing with friends or passing a note, Restoring the peace or caring for pets, Casting a line in the lake from the boat, Sweet memories drift by as the sun sets. Recalling such joy, through the flow or tears, We question the mystery of God's plan. Comfort is hard to find as such pain sears, Save for your love as the heavens we scan. But even now, you continue to give. Forever in our hearts, Belle Blonde shall live.

TIMMINS - Justin Lambert-Bélanger wanted to make a difference in the lives of others.

He was well on his way to doing that, and much more, when he and seven teammates on the University of Wyoming cross country track squad were killed when their team van was struck by a drunk driver in September of 2001. Lambert-Bélanger, born and raised in Timmins and on a path to stardom, was only 20 years old.

Nearly 13 years later, it’s not uncommon to see Lucie and Richard Lambert-Bélanger on a sunny day at the track, giving tips and encouraging local youngsters to be their best. After the loss of their son, both Lucie and Richard have remained heavily involved on the track and field scene in Timmins, sitting on various committees and volunteering many hours to event planning and organization.

Though there’s nothing to fill the void of a lost child for the Lambert-Bélangers, they point to the fact there's evidence at least one of Justin’s dreams did come true.

The Justin Lambert-Bélanger Relays will be held on May 29 in Timmins. Around 15 elementary schools from the area will each bring between 20 and 60 young athletes, ready to leave it all on the oval at the Timmins Regional Athletics and Soccer Complex.

“It’s really supposed to be a fun day rather than a competitive one,” explained Lucie. “Of course, there’s always a competitive aspect, with the athletes and the coaches especially, but there aren’t trophies or anything for the winning teams at the end.

“The trophy we do have goes to the team which has displayed the best team spirit and sportsmanship throughout the event.”

The trophy is in fact a pair of Justin’s running shoes, along with a relay baton, which have been encased in glass to serve as a lasting symbol of his passion for the sport.

Though competitive fanfare is kept to a relative minimum at the relays, each member of the team with the most spirit will receive a medal. On the back of each medal is inscribed a quote inspired from an interview Justin did shortly before he died, during which he said: “If I was able to inspire one person by the time my career is over, I’ll be happy.”

The inscription ends with one final phrase: “Come run with me.”

“Justin always wanted to have a relay competition to compete in,” remembered Richard. “He found a relay race pleasant, it wasn’t too stressful, and it put emphasis on team spirit and working together. Unfortunately, he never had the chance.”

After a one-year hiatus in 2013, the Lambert-Bélangers and fellow organizers were flooded with requests from students, parents and teachers clamouring for the relays to return for an 11th event. In the coming years, the Lambert-Bélangers hope to grow the relays to include presentations in schools and increase the number of participants.

Other than promoting physical activity and sportsmanship among students, Lucie said the relays were a distinct way to honour Justin and the things he stood for.

“As a family, it keeps the memory of Justin alive,” she said. “It’s kind of a bonus for us, I guess you could say. One of your biggest fears as a parent who loses a child is that they’ll be forgotten.

“As time passes, it’s normal for the memory to fade a little bit, so this is also just a way to make sure he and his passion for track and field are remembered.

“He really was passionate about it. It’s fun that people get to see a part of who he was.”

It was with the help of family and friends, including one of Justin’s former coaches, Darlene Polowy, that the Justin Lambert-Bélanger Relays have continued on all these years.

But rather than a sombre reminder of Justin’s passing, his parents say the relays serve as a celebration of Justin’s deep desire to make a difference in people’s lives.

“For us as parents, it’s not that difficult,” said Lucie about being reminded of Justin with each annual event. “We think about him every single day. So it’s not like, ‘Oh, the relays are today, it’s time to think about Justin.’

“It’s the same for the rest of the family. Not a day goes by where we don’t think of him.”

Richard confirmed the sentiment, saying the positive atmosphere surrounding the day is uplifting for the family.

“It’s a feel-good day for us, to see all those kids out there, yelling, singing, having fun and competing,” he said with a smile. “It’s really heart-warming.”

Richard also explained that, following Justin’s tragic death, it was Thériault’s longtime track and field coach Vital Shank who approached the family with the idea to create an event in his memory.

Shank has been a Thériault track coach since 1974. He’s seen athletes come and go, including great ones who have gone on to great things. But even among the stars, Justin stood out.

“He was special because of his humility,” said Shank. “He was very grounded, dedicated and easy to coach. His goal was basically to end up in the Olympics some day, but what he always said was, ‘I hope I can influence someone positively in some way.’

“I don’t think it was a premonition or anything. It’s hard for a 19- or 20-year-old to transfer that kind of message. But it was never about him. It was always about everything around him. He was very much a teammate, just willing to share his experiences with other people.”

Shank explained Justin often appears in his thoughts the night before a track meet, but that as the event unfolds, the excitement of the day takes over. It’s in those moments that Justin Lambert-Bélanger’s spirit shines the strongest.

“Was he the best athlete I ever coached? He was certainly one of the best; I’ve coached some good ones.” said Shank. “But he’s definitely the one I miss the most.”
